Traveling in China

In recent years, since the pandemic and ongoing for political reasons, travel to and from China has not been as easy as it was when I went in 2017 and 2018 with Jesse Tsao. Here we are in Tiananmen Square. I am front center with my blond hair.

Hopefully, someday we’ll be able to go there again. I absolutely loved China.

In 2017, we flew into Shanghai, cruised the Yangtze River, and visited Wudang Mountain. See:

In 2018, we flew into Beijing, saw Tiananmen (“Gate of Heavenly Peace”) Square, the Temple of Heaven and the Emperor’s Southern Palace.

We headed by bus for Xi’An to see the Great Wall and the terra cotta soldiers. But the most wonderful thing about Xi-An was the lights in the city after dark! We walked home from dinner in a state of amazement. You cannot imagine it.

I loved the Yellow River, where you could pay for a pony ride along the banks. This was not a concession for Westerners but for local people; we were a rarity there, graciously accepted.

We visited Chen Village, where we saw the Tai Chi museum and the packed-clay yard where the Chen family—and Yang Luchan!—practiced Tai Chi.

From Chen village we took the bullet train back up to the North where we visited the temple at Penglei and saw Genral Qi JiGuang’s House before returning to Beijing to fly home. See:

If you are a Tai Chi person and want to see China, watch Jesse Tsao’s website and take the next opportunity to go with him. He’s the perfect guide, plus we practice Tai Chi every morning and evening.
